In-Depth Information
You have several options while visiting Montreux. You can extend your shopping
and sightseeing in the city for 1 hour and 50 minutes if you forgo Chillon and yet
board the same steamer for Lausanne and not miss any of your friends who may
have elected to see the castle made famous by Lord Byron. If it's stormy on Lake
Geneva, you can still keep to the schedule by proceeding to Lausanne by rail.
Chillon-bound passengers should scurry to the castle as quickly as possible after
the lake steamer docks to ensure maximum use of the time ashore. The steamer
proceeds on to the French port of St. Gingolph and then returns to Chillon. Check
at the Chillon dock for its return time. Should you miss the boat, you still have an-
other option. Hail a cab back to Montreux, then board the train for Lausanne to join
your friends in the dining car en route back to Bern.
