Farther along the banks of the Motala, you will come to an open-air museum,

waffles—Swedish style.
Norrköping successfully blends its industrial history with some of nature's most
beautiful assets. Its many parks and beautiful flower displays provide an atmo-
sphere of contentment and tranquility.
Norrköping's history extends all the way back to the Bronze Age with the
3,000-year-old rock carvings in Himmelstalundparken. Guided tours of the rock
carvings are available daily July 1 through August 1 at 1400. There are also
special exhibitions, rock-carving trips, and boat trips on the Motala. The rock-
carving museum, Hällristningsmuseet, is open 1000 to 1800 April-July, 1000 to
1600 August, and 1100 to 1600 October-November.
Only 25 kilometers north of Norrköping is the famous Kolmårdens Zoo and Sa-
fariPark —one of Europe's finest. Also, close to Norrköping, pleasure steamers ply
the Göta Canal and the archipelago. Check with the tourist information office for
more details on either of these great adventures.
