and here declared the cease-fire in 1939.
The Casa del Cordon, a 15th-century house so named from the huge cord of
rope carved in stone fronting its entrance, forms the backdrop for El Cid's statue.
It was here that Christopher Columbus was received in formal audience by the
Spanish monarchs on his return from his second voyage to the Americas.
