Base City: OSLO
www.visitoslo.com
Oslo, known as “the Viking Capital,” is unique. If you love to bask in the sun, go to
Oslo sometime between May and October, when more sunbeams fall on Oslo than
on any other capital city in Europe north of the Alps. About half a million of Norway's
four million people live in Oslo, and soaking up the sun is the thing to do in town
during the summer. Sauna baths, of course, become the rage for the balance of the
year.
Oslo is also Norway's business, cultural, and fun capital. Frequently referred to
as the “Nightclub of the North,” Oslo is Scandinavia's center for entertainment and
night life. Artists and performers entertain into the wee hours of the morning.
Arriving by Air
Touted as “Europe's safest and most efficient airport,” Oslo's international airport
at Gardermoen is a beautiful example of contemporary Norwegian architecture.
Located some 47 kilometers north of Oslo, the airport handles about 17 million pas-
sengers per year. There are daily direct flights to more than 30 European cities and
hourly flights to Copenhagen and Stockholm. Visit www.osl.no .
