Airport-City links: Rail service between the airport and Amsterdam's Centraal
Station takes about 15 minutes and costs €6.80 one-way. Trains run approxim-
ately every 10 minutes from 0600 to midnight. If your destination is in the south-
ern part of the city, you can board a train for the Zuid (South) Station as well. In
fact, direct train service from Schiphol Airport to many other points in the Neth-
erlands, such as The Hague, Rotterdam, and Delft, is available. Within Holland,

Schiphol Travel Taxi provides a national taxi service that can be prearranged
online ( www.schiphol.nl ) . The third person receives a 35 percent discount, and
children younger than age 12 are half fare. Fares are based on the postal code
of your destination. From Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal Station area, the
adult fare is €25 (including luggage) one-way.
Otherwise, a regular taxi may better serve your needs. A taxi takes about 30
minutes and costs about €35 to the Centraal Station area. Again, the HTI desk
will be helpful. Taxis can be found just outside the Arrivals Hall.
Money exchange services and ATMs are located in all three Arrivals Halls.
Hours: 0800-2030 (Hall 1); 0600-2200 (Hall 2); 0700-2100 (Hall 3). The West
Lounge has an ATM (bank cards only). The tourist office will also exchange
money.
Duty-free shopping: Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport Shopping Centre is actually
three centers. The Plaza totals more than 50 shops with more than 120,000 dif-
ferent items. The shops are open from first to last flight departure. Duty-free
shopping (See Buy Fly center) is available only to passengers departing
Schiphol to destinations outside the European Union.
Schiphol Plaza shopping is available to everyone, but normal VAT is payable.

Arriving by Train
The Amsterdam Centraal Station is the focal point of all rail, tram (trolley), bus,
and Metro (subway) traffic within the city. All train service for the listed day ex-
cursions depart from, and arrive in, this station. Trams, buses, and the Metro (en-
trance) are available immediately in front of the station, the hub of Amsterdam's
