The LCTO provides extensive services, such as guided city tours, tourist and
cultural information, hotel and restaurant details, and offers telephone cards,
maps, books, and souvenirs. Students attired in “Ask Me” T-shirts also walk
about the streets of the city center to provide tourist information.
Hotel reservations can also be made by the tourist information offices. There
are numerous hotels on the side streets near the station in addition to some
charming smaller hotels within reasonable taxi or city bus distances. The four-
star Best Western Hotel International ( Tel: 00 352 48 59 11; www.hotelinter.lu ;
E-mail: info@hotelinter.lu) and the MAHC rive droit ( Tel: 352 2704 8371
www.maho.lu ; Email: info@maho.lu) are across the street from the rail station.
For those who prefer an American-style hotel with all the amenities, the
Sheraton Aerogolf is located near the airport.
Our choice is a small, quaint hotel with European-style charm and ser-
vice— Hôtel Italia (20 rooms). Located at 15-17 rue d'Anvers, Hôtel Italia is
near the rail station and features an excellent Italian restaurant. Tel: 48 66 26 1
or Fax: 48 08 07; E-mail: italia@euro.lu. Rates: €80-€115, single. Major credit
cards are accepted.
Getting Around in Luxembourg City
The city center is condensed, and most sights are accessible on foot, despite the
cliffs and ramparts that characterize this fortress city. For longer distances use Lux-
embourg's efficient network of buses (single fare, €2.00). Taxis are metered.
The most practical way of getting around Luxembourg on your own is to pur-
chase a LuxembourgCard. You get free admission to more than 55 tourist attrac-
tions, free use of public transportation, and a 32-page guidebook to go along with
it. The Luxembourg Card is valid from Easter through October.
