• Hotel reservations. Hotel reservations in Rome and other Italian cities can be
made Monday through Sunday 0700 to 2200 directly across from track No. 20.
• Train information and reservations desks are located across from Platforms 5
and 22. There is also an FS Information Office toward the Piazza dei Cinque-
cento exits, facing the bus station. Hours: 0630-2200. Visit www.trenitalia.com .
To ensure that you receive the proper reservation, determine the day and date of
your travel, the number and departure time of your train, and its arrival time at your
destination. This information can be taken from any of the train schedules posted
throughout the station.
Print this information on a plain piece of paper, starting with the date, the train
number, and the departure time. Draw a short arrow, then add the arrival time of
the train and, finally, the name of the destination. Indicate the number of reserva-
tions required, then present the information to the attendant together with the rail
pass you will use for the trip. Submission of this information may draw a small grin
from the attendant making the reservations, but it will save time and lessen the
possibilities of errors in completing your train reservations.
• Rail pass validation may be made at a window labeled in English in the FS In-
formation Office located in the center of the train station near the main entrance
facing the bus station. It is rather hidden away, and there are not any signs dir-
ecting you. Just follow the signs for taxi and bus service, and right before you
exit the station behind several tobacco shops you will see several windows, in-
cluding the Eurail window and other windows that can provide you with informa-
tion.
If you plan an early morning departure on the first day you use your rail pass,
either allow an extra hour at the station that morning or inquire at one of the val-
idating windows midevening the night before about the possibility of predating the
validation.
