In-Depth Information
Bremen, it boasts quaint little houses, inns, and workshops dating from the 16th,
17th, and 18th centuries.
City sightseeing tours depart daily (except Monday) from the bus station in front
of the main railway station at 1100. Tickets (€13.90 adults; €9.90 children up to
age 12) must be obtained beforehand at the tourist information office. Trips around
the harbor depart the Martini Church jetty daily at frequent intervals from March
through October. The trip lasts 1¼ hours.
Anywhere in Bremen, the marketplace, the Böttcherstrasse, and the Schnoor in-
cluded, you may come upon a chimney sweep garbed in traditional swallowtailed
coat and high, black hat. Reach out and touch him, for it is said that doing so brings
good luck. Everyone does, and it's quite an exciting time when one passes through
a crowd. Legends old and new abound in Bremen. Enjoy your visit.
