Berlin is such a fascinating, pulsating metropolis full of attractions, nonstop activ-
ities, and events that we can list but a few here. Don't miss a walk on Berlin's shop-
ping and entertainment streets— Kurfürstendamm and Friedrichstrasse. Stop at
No. 207-208 Kurfürstendamm for a journey through “A Story of Berlin,” a multime-
dia presentation documenting the city's 800 years of history.
The Friedrichstadtpalast is Europe's largest light-entertainment theater that
features gala performances, artistic displays, dancers and solo singers, and a live
orchestra. The Berlin Zoo is one of the finest in Europe, and there's no better
place to relax than in the attractive English Gardens, dedicated by Sir Anthony
Eden. Berliners call it the “Garden of Eden.”
The dome of the Reichstag has become one of the main attractions. At 23.5
meters high and 40 meters wide, it proudly stands in solitary splendor over the ren-
ovated Reichstag, which inaugurated the German Bundestag in April 1999. Climb
to the top for an enjoyable view of the city.
