Notes: The tourist information office is located adjacent to the municipal docks.
Via Metro, take Line 1 in the direction “La Timone” to stop “Vieux Port-Hôtel de
Ville.” You may taxi there just by showing the driver the address. To reach it on
foot—about a 15-minute walk—leave the railway station by descending the steps
to street level. Directly in front is the boulevard d'Athens (a promenade from the
original settlers, no doubt). Follow this street to the third traffic signal, including the
one at the foot of the train station steps. Turn to the right onto boulevard La Cane-
biere, and just beyond the second traffic light now in front of you, look for the tourist
office in the last building on the left-hand side of the street just before the small
boat harbor.
Also, there is a small tourist office in the train station on the track level that is
open 1000 to 1800.
Marseilles, the great port of France, is second only to Paris in population and is one
