• Taxis are available at the exit from the airport terminals. Fare between airport
and rail station: about €25. Journey time: about 15 minutes. Taxis and intercity
bus service between the airport in Nice and the resorts of Cannes and Monte
Carlo are also available.

Several resort hotels offer free or reduced-rate transportation to their locations
along the Riviera. Inquire at the airport information desk.

Arriving by Train

Nice is a major rail terminus for the Mediterranean region, with 20 daily connec-
tions from France's largest cities and 11 from other countries.
The exterior of the central station in Nice is deceptive. There is a lot more activity
and more facilities than those you see. Although it is smaller than most major train
terminals in Europe, it seems to function equally well, with the exception of long
ticket lines. Here again, a rail pass will prove to be an invaluable convenience.

If your luggage is lost or stolen, if you missed your train, or if you need help with
a disabled or elderly passenger, don't panic. The railway station provides a helpful
service—the SOS Voyageurs SNCF (Travelers' SOS Service). Tel: [phone]
61 Monday through Friday, 0900 to 1200 and 1500 to 1800 for assistance. (Closed
Saturday and Sunday.)
Money exchange office is outside the main station and on the right as you exit
from the trains ( Tel: [phone]). Hours: June-September: 0700-2130 daily;
remainder of the year, 0800-2000 daily.
Train information, reservations, and rail pass validation office is inside the
main station on the extreme left side when exiting from the trains. The office
is marked RESERVATION INFORMATION—RENSEIGNEMENTS.

Hours: 0800-1900

Monday-Saturday, 0900-1900 Sunday/holidays.
Remember, when having your pass validated, write out the starting and ending
dates on a piece of paper and get the railroad clerk to agree to the correctness of
the dates before the validation information is entered onto your rail pass.
