A number of pseudomonad isolates were taken from each plot for
genetic fingerprinting. This enabled comparison of the genetic structure of
the group in the two plots, to look for shifts that might be due to the differ-
ent organic carbon and heavy metal inputs. Fingerprint analysis, taken at
one time point, showed that the individual isolates from the two plots were
different. It also indicated that the population structure in the two groups
was different, with some dominant groups apparent in the FYM plot
whereas there were none in the Sewage plot (Fig. 5.3.3). Thus, the Sewage
