Rooms 49 to 54 contain drawings, watercolours, pastels and prints, with rotating exhibits
of works from the museum's permanent collection. Room 55 houses the Treasury , with its
collection of metals, jewellery, embroidery and precious knick-knacks.
Icons are found on the 1st floor in rooms 56 to 62. Andrei Rublyov's Holy Trinity
(1420s) from Sergiev Posad, regarded as Russia's greatest icon, is in room 60. Within the
museum grounds is the Church of St Nicholas in Tolmachi ( MAP GOOGLE MAP ;
noon-4pm Tue-Sun) , which was transferred to this site and restored in 1997. The centrepiece is
the revered 12th-century Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, protector of all Russia,
which was transferred here from the Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin.
