protocol such as SSL. he API uses an X.509 certiicate to authenticate requests from clients.
he Service Management API can be used to manage the existing storage accounts. Since the
API can only be used to manage existing storage accounts, the developer cannot directly create
and delete storage accounts with the API. he API cannot change the labels of storage accounts,
register or unregister a storage account with a content delivery network (CDN), and register or
unregister a custom domain name through a storage account. For the management of existing
storage accounts, the API provides the following operations:
List storage accounts within a subscription
Get storage account properties
Retrieve primary and secondary storage account keys
Regenerate storage account keys
he Service Management API allows you to specify the ways to deploy a service. You can use
Staging or Production to deploy a service. However, developers cannot directly create and delete
cloud services with the API. he API cannot change the labels of cloud services. For the management
of cloud services, the Windows Azure Service Management API provides the following operations:
List cloud services in a subscription.
Get properties for a cloud service.
Create, get, swap, delete, and upgrade deployment.
Conigure deployment properties.
Update and manage deployments.
Upgrade cloud services.
For ainity group management, the Windows Azure Service Management API provides the
following operations. However, developers cannot directly create and delete a hosted ainity group
with the API. he API cannot change the labels of ainity groups.
List and get properties of ainity groups.
To use a certiicate, you need to generate a self-signed certiicate with IIS 7 or use the utility
makecert in the command window. For certiicate management, the Windows Azure Service
Management API provides the following operations:
List, get, add, and delete certiicates.
