GETTING AROUND
Italy has an excellent road and highway system
if you are traveling around the country by car,
although you have to pay a toll ( un pedaggio ) to
use the fast highways ( autostrade ). Italian trains,
linking the main towns and cities, are fast, punctual,
and surprisingly inexpensive. In large cities you can
get around by taxi, bus, or tram. In Milan there is
also the subway ( metropolitana ).
