Illustration 107: Important forms of test signals for computer-based methods
The signals presented here have so far been almost exclusively of theoretical importance. As a result of the
computer, theory and practice are becoming more and more of a unit because theory is concerned with
mathematical models of processes and the computer can easily calculate the results of these mathematical
processes (formulae) and represent them graphically.
Other important test signals are

• GAUSSian pulse
• Step function
• GAUSSian oscillation
pulse
• Burst pulse
• Si-function
• Noise
• Si-oscillation pulse
