Jurys Boston Hotel Jurys Doyle, a well-known Irish chain, isn't all that famil-
iar in Boston, but this building is: It used to be police headquarters. These days the
welcome is warmer and the business (weeknight) and leisure (weekend) clientele more
satisfied than the former guests. The original 1925 limestone-and-brick building
gained a wing and two floors before opening in 2004, and the public areas went from
drab to dramatic. Decorated in peaceful, muted colors, the luxurious guest rooms
have nice touches such as a work area with an ergonomic chair, down comforters,
good-size bathrooms (not a sure thing in a renovation), and windows that open but
also do a good job of muffling street noise. Still, light sleepers will want to face away
from busy Berkeley Street and perhaps request a room on the second floor, where win-
dows are smaller than elsewhere.

Sheraton Boston Hotel Its central location, range of accommodations, exten-
sive convention and function facilities, and huge pool make this 29-story hotel one of
the most popular in the city. The Sheraton attracts both business and leisure travelers
with direct access to the Hynes Convention Center and the Prudential Center com-
plex. The fairly large guest rooms, decorated in sleek contemporary style, contain the
chain's signature sleigh beds with pillow-top mattresses. Units on the highest floors are
club-level suites, but even standard accommodations on higher floors afford gorgeous
views. Because it's so big, the Sheraton often has available rooms when smaller prop-
erties are full. If you're on a budget, shop around before you book; you may be able
to find a better deal elsewhere.

The Westin Copley Place Boston Towering 36 stories above Copley Square,
the Westin attracts business travelers, convention-goers, sightseers, and dedicated
shoppers with its great location and solicitous staff. Sky bridges link the hotel to Cop-
ley Place and the Prudential Center complex, and Copley Square is across the street
from the pedestrian entrance. The spacious guest rooms—all on the eighth floor or
higher—have traditional oak and mahogany furniture, Westin's beloved pillow-top
mattresses, and decent-size bathrooms. Junior suites are oversized doubles with gener-
ous sitting areas, but one-bedroom suites have one of the most entertaining features
around: a queen-size Murphy bed in the living room. You might not notice any of that
