calibration check. For every participant two captures were generated, one from the
3D and one from the 2D video presentations.
6.3.1.5 Post-Processing of the Captured Gaze Data
For further usage some post-processing was applied on the captured data. Specific
points in the recorded data, e.g. start of content, were marked to enable matching
the captured samples to the video frames. Therefore the eye-tracking results were
exported from the eye-tracking system and filtered for only relevant information.
Afterwards the samples were matched with the video frames based on the captured
timestamps and the previously marked video positions like start of content.
6.3.2 Validation of Temporal Image Signature Approach
with Eye Tracking Data
In order to evaluate the proposed method TIS approach [ 29 ], two sequences as
shown in Fig. 6.10 are used for eye tracking experiments. The heat maps (which
show the salient regions where the users fixated their gazes more often) obtained by
means of an eye tracker system 5
is fused with the proposed saliency model as
shown in Fig. 6.10 .

5 Tobii Technology TX300 eye tracker system was used for obtaining the heat maps.
