CHAPTER 6
Configuration Manager
As the name of the product suggests, Configuration Manager enables you to inventory and
manage the configuration of managed client devices. Hardware and software inventory
allow you to generate a detailed picture of the hardware and software configurations of
the client devices that Configuration Manager manages. Software Metering is a feature that
enables you to track how applications on managed clients are being utilized. You can then
use the reporting functionality in Configuration Manager to generate detailed reports using
the information that has been collected.

Configuration Manager enables you to configure the collection of hardware and software
inventory and, thus, to generate detailed information about the configuration of client

managed devices.
