In step 9, we query the
V$PROCESS
dynamic performance view to collect information about the
running processes. An excerpt of the results of the query is shown in the following screenshot:
We see the
PMON
(Process MONitor) process, the
DBW0
(DB Writer) process, and so on,
running on the Windows systems. However, there is only one active
ORACLE.EXE
process,
and each of the database processes mentioned earlier is implemented in a separate
thread of the
ORACLE.EXE
process, as we can see using the task monitor and in the
following screenshot:
