Binary Floating-Point Number Functions
As already mentioned, these functions are new to Oracle Database 10
g
and
could possibly be viewed as a subset of number functions, except that they
operate specifically on binary floating-point numbers. This section is par-
tially repeated from Chapter 2.
TO_BINARY_DOUBLE(expression, format)
and
TO_BINARY_
FLOAT(expression, format)
allow for conversions. Essentially, these
functions are conversion functions, but they are listed here because
they deal with binary floating-point numbers.
NANVL(value, replace)
. NANVL returns a replacement value if the
initial value is not a number.
