At the timeofthis writing, an average of 36% of advanced searchusersclick
onthe hot search link “Iran and Nuclear program,” which executes apredefined
search like “Iran > * ∼ nuclear.” However, it is di cultto assess what the user
experience islike because in 80% of cases the userperforms non-search-relatedtasks,
and therefore we don'tknowhow long they spent looking at the results. Note that
usersclickingonthislink may notrealize that theyaregoing to a search engine
page, since thelink title is ambiguous. The resultsofthissearchare quitegood,
and still relevant. The hot searchis an important entry point intoour search site,
as 36% ofall the fact searchqueries executed came fromthissource. It seemslikely
that adding moreofthese hot search linksor otherwise accentuating them onthe
page would significantlyincrease user exposure to naturallanguage basedqueries.
