The rationale for selecting performance indicators and performance criteria is
given in the original document. 15 Testing methods are recommended for each per-
formance indicator in Table 11.8. For each testing method, the source is identified,
the main features are described, and potential problems are discussed. Methods
requiring improvement or alternative methods are mentioned where appropriate.
Performance criteria for each of the four utilization and disposal scenarios are
proposed in Table 11.9 and Table 11.10.

SUMMARY
This chapter has presented the range of test methods available for the assessment
of S/S materials and also treatment. The most commonly used tests, namely leach-
ability, UCS, hydraulic conductivity, and durability, were detailed. It is also clear
