London House At the tranquil nor thern end of S even M ile
Beach, London House is a good choice if you'd like your own upscale
apartment. Thanks to Hurricane Ivan, the hotel has undergone a mas-
sive renovation and essentially is rebuilt in its original style. Each unit
has a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining ar eas, and a
private patio or balcony o verlooking the water. Floral prints, rattan,
tile floors, and Caribbean pastels set a tr opical tone in most units.
The complex has a seaside swimming pool (but tr y to get a r oom
away from the pool area if you're bothered by noise, as parties are some-
times staged on the patio), plus a v olleyball court. You'll find a stone
barbecue for private poolside cookouts and many r estaurants nearby.

Morritt's Tortuga Club and Gr and Resort On 3 beach-
front hectar es (7 1 / 2 acr es) on the east end of the island, this r esort
offers some of the island 's best windsurfing and diving within waters
that dr op off quickly into G rand Cayman's “ West Wall.” Tortuga
Divers (p. 111) r uns a branch on the pr emises and focuses on the
diving and windsur fing trade that has dev eloped offshore from this
isolated, but surprisingly busy hotel.
About a 40km (25-mile) drive from the airport, the resort and club
are composed of clusters of thr ee-story beachfr ont condos opening
onto the water. Each was built in the Antillean plantation style fr om
the wreckage of a former hotel. There's a bit mor e space within the
Grand Resort units, with kitchens that are a somewhat of an upgrade
from those in the Tortuga Club. Grand Resort rooms rent at a pr e-
mium between 10% and 15% more than the rates noted below. Many
are rented as timeshar e units, often to visiting B ritish and Canadian
residents who appreciate the calm of this r esort's isolated position on
Grand Cayman's distant East End. Each of the comfortably furnished
apartments has a fully equipped kitchen, although many guests opt
for meals in the complex's simple restaurant.
