Only a short distance from restaurants, and about a 10-minute driv e
from George Town, the Avalon is well-maintained, pleasant, and styl-
ish. The three-story design ensur es a lo wer density of people on the
beachfront than you're likely to find in front of newer properties with
six or seven stories. Children under 12 are allowed on-site, but overall,
they're rather car efully “policed” for misbehavior and loud noises, a
policy that contributes to a sense of calm and sedate w ell-being that
residents and inv estors work hard to maintain. The well-appointed,
spacious units hav e an E nglish colonial motif; durable, flo wered or
pastel-colored upholsteries; plus king-siz e or twin beds. Each condo
has a fully equipped, open-sided kitchen with amenities (including

The Beachcomber In the center of S even Mile Beach, this is
one of the older condo complex es, but it 's still w ell maintained and
inviting. The fabled sands of Seven Mile Beach lie right outside your
rental. Upon arrival, you're made to feel welcome: You're given a piece
of r um cake and discount coupons for shops and attractions. The
condos are spacious, but rather simply furnished. Each is a two-bed-
room apartment that sleeps four people comfortably and six people in
a somewhat cramped fashion. Tile floors and rattan furnishings make
up the decor , and each unit opens onto a vie w of the sea fr om a
screened-in private patio. For those who want to make use of their
kitchenettes, at least for pr eparing simple meals, a gr ocery stor e is
across the street. Even if you don't have a car, you'll find a deli, thr ee
dive shops, liquor stor es, and scooter r entals nearby. The restaurants
and bars of the Westin and H yatt are also within walking distance.
You'll find good snorkeling on the reef right offshore.
