Sunshine Suites Resor t Built on a flat-as-a-pancake str etch of
scrubland that requires a 5-minute trek across the busy traffic of West
Bay Street before reaching the sands of S even Mile Beach, this is a
well-designed resort compound. Along with the also-r ecommended
Comfort Suites, it is acknowledged as one of the least expensive lodg-
ings in the Seven Mile Beach area. The resort resembles a decent but
somewhat anonymous and unclutter ed apar tment complex on the
outskirts of, say, Washington, D.C., that just so happens to be beside
the beach. Both inside and out, the design r eflects B ritish colonial
architecture. Each of the units has its o wn kitchen, so many guests
prepare their meals on-site, av oiding the high cost of nearb y restau-
rants and contributing to a hands-off laissez-fair e dynamic that suits
many of the guests her e just fine. Each of the units is equipped with
a midsize private bathroom with tub and shower.

Turtle Nest Inn Value This cluster of fully furnished apar tments
opening onto a beach is an attractive and affordable alternative to the
pricey condos and chain hotels such as the M arriott. The beach out
front is a bit narr ow, but always has good snor keling (equipment
available at the inn) and guests usually find it uncrowded. Otherwise,
guests relax on the terrace. The architecture is vaguely Spanish, with
arches and a red-tiled roof, along with whitewashed walls and cooling
terra-cotta tiles in the private, well-furnished units. The inn is located
in the some what remote village of Bodden Town, the first capital of
the island, which is a 10-minute driv e fr om G eorge Town and the
airport.
