1 HOTELS & RESORTS
VERY EXPENSIVE
Grand C ayman B each Suites Kids This stylish all-suite
resort is set dir ectly on the sands of S even Mile Beach. The property
originated as par t of a 36-hectar e (89-acre) resort development. The
beach suites—originally conceiv ed as an after thought to a larger
resort—are some of the most sought-after accommodations on Grand
Cayman. And although the land on which the tr uncated resort sits is
relatively compact, the o wners hav e placed lots of distractions and
diversions on-site, including two r estaurants and direct access to the
beach. R ooms ar e w ell appointed and hav e priv ate v erandas with
views of the sea. Each suite is compact, y et artfully designed. Restau-
rants are nearby; there are also some convenient markets if you want
to cook inside your suite.

The Ritz-Carlton Kids With amenities and a service level
that's riv aled only b y the Westin, the Ritz-Carlton is the largest,

resort in the Cayman I slands. In a league and a class of its o wn, this
property defies comparison to virtually everything else on Grand Cay-
man. And unless y ou make a concentrated effor t to explor e other
parts of the island, it 's v ery easy, once y ou've checked in, nev er to
venture beyond its boundaries. The whole resort is set atop 58 hect-
ares (143 acres) that cover the entire width of the island, fr om Seven
Mile Beach to North Sands.
Straddling the boulevard that parallels Seven Mile Beach, the resort
is divided into two r egal and v ery large, but distinctly separate
buildings—each painted the color of sand. B inding the components
together is a climate-controlled catwalk that stretches above the con-
gested r ush-hour traffic of West B ay S treet. Thanks to a changing
array of artwork, elaborate soundproofing, and the fact that the win-
dows of the catwalk are inset with frosted glass, you'll have absolutely
no sense of the wor kaday world belo w. E verything is climate-con-
trolled, meticulously manicur ed, and co vered with marble, stone,
expensive hardwoods, or ultra-plush wall-to-wall carpeting. No other
