Tips Getting Through the Airport
• Arrive at the airpor t at least 1 hour bef ore a domestic
flight and 2 hours bef ore an international flight. You can
check the a verage wait times at y our airpor t b y going
to the TSA Security Check point Wait Times sit e f or
airports in the U .S. ( http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov ).
• Know what y ou can carr y on and what y ou can 't. F or
the latest updates on it ems you are prohibited to bring
in carry-on luggage through the U.S., go to www.tsa.gov/
travelers/airtravel .
• Beat the ticket- counter lines b y using the self-ser vice
electronic ticket k iosks at the airpor t or ev en printing
out your boarding pass at home from the airline website.
Using curbside check -in is also a smar t wa y t o a void
lines.
• Help speed up securit y before you're screened. Remove
jackets, shoes, belt buck les, heavy jewelry, and wat ches
and place them either in y our carr y-on luggage or the
security bins provided. Place keys, coins, cellphones, and
pagers in a securit y bin. If you have metallic body par ts,
carry a not e fr om y our doc tor. When possible , keep
packing liquids in checked baggage .
• Use a TSA-approved lock for your checked luggage. Look
for Travel Sentry-certified locks at luggage or travel shops
and Br ookstone st ores (or online at w ww.brookstone.
