Don't Stow It—Ship It
Though pricey, it's sometimes worthwhile to travel luggage-
free, particularly if you're toting diving equipment, meetings
materials, or baby furniture. Specialists in door-to-door lug-

daily fr om H eathrow to M iami, wher e continuing flights can be
booked on Cayman Airways into George Town.
Getting into Town from the Airport
Plenty of taxis meet all arriving planes. The government sets taxi fares,
which apply to one to three passengers sharing a ride. Each additional
person (additional to a gr oup of three) pays 25% of the far e. Typical
prices (subject to change) ar e as follo ws: US$15 fr om the airpor t to
the southern end of Seven Mile Beach; US$28 from the airport to the
northern end of S even Mile Beach; US$65 fr om the airpor t to the
East End; and US$65 fr om the airpor t to R um Point on the nor th
shore.
To protect taxi drivers and their livelihood, the government doesn't
allow buses to run back and forth between town and the airport.
Many car r ental companies operate kiosks in the airpor t. It's best
to reserve before flying to Grand Cayman. For specifics, see “Getting
Around,” later in this chapter.
