1 ESSENTIALS
VISITOR INFORMATION
Little Cayman is too small to have a tourist office. Before you go, you
can visit the tourist office in George Town (p. 190) and pick up what
limited information is available.
GETTING THERE
Most visitors fly fr om Grand Cayman to Little Cayman aboar d any
of the several daily flights operated by Cayman Express, a subdivision
of Cayman Airways ( & 800/422-9626 in the U.S. and Canada, or
345/949-8200; www.caymanairways.com), the national carrier . The
cost of r ound-trip passage aboar d any of its 18-seater planes is
US$132 to US$157. L uggage is limited, without payment of an
additional sur charge, to two suitcases per person, totaling no mor e
than 55 pounds for both bags, so i's wise to pack light. Airplanes only
land and take off on Little Cayman during daylight hours.
GETTING AROUND
You can get around this small island four ways: You can use your feet,
rent a jeep , hir e a bike, or go on an organiz ed tour. I f y ou make
arrangements in adv ance, y our hotel will often send a v an to meet
your plane.
Car Rentals
The island's only car r ental outlet is McLaughlin Enterprises, Blos-
som Village ( & 345/948-1000 ). Its office, located in a small shop-
ping strip, is clearly visible fr om the airstrip and within easy walking
distance. You can also call the company thr ough an airpor t courtesy
phone and ask them to pick y ou up. Rates begin at CI$65 per day ,
with a second driver costing another CI$14. The insurance charge is
CI$16 per day . M cLaughlin is open M onday to S aturday 8am to
6pm, and Sunday 8am to noon and 3 to 5pm.

One local rule to remember is that the prehistoric-looking
gray iguana is the king of the road and always has the right of
way should he want to make a leisurely crossing.
