Captain's Table AMERICAN The decor here is vaguely nauti-
cal, with oars over and around the bar and pieces of boats forming the
restaurant's entryway. The restaurant has both indoor, air-conditioned
seating and outdoor, poolside dining. Every Saturday night, its kara-
oke party draws in mor e business than any other bar on the island.
Begin a meal here with shrimp and lobster cocktail or a conch fritter,
and then try one of the soups, such as black bean or a tomato-based
conch chowder. Main dishes include everything from the catch of the
day, often served pan-fried, to barbecue ribs. L unch features burgers,

Aunt Sha's Kitchen Finds CA YMANIAN/CHINESE This
bright pink building lur es you to its isolated location on the south
side of Cayman B rac. While relaxing on the patio at high tide, y ou
can often see sharks in the water. A local favorite, this place serves the
food that islanders hav e eaten for decades. Try such classic dishes as
turtle stew with rice and beans, homemade conch fritters, and K ey
lime pie. O ther favorites include sw eet-and-sour chicken with fried
rice, and chicken or shrimp chop suey. We gravitate toward the catch
of the day , perhaps king fish or mahimahi, which can be grilled or
fried and topped with butter y onions and pepper . The prices ar e
among the most affordable on the island. There's also a lively bar with
a pool table (see “Cayman B rac After Dark,” later in this chapter).
