VISITOR INFORMATION
Cayman Brac Tourist Office, West End Road, North Side ( & 345/
948-1649 ), is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to noon and 1 to 5pm,
dispensing information about the island. It's located to the east of the
little airport.
GETTING THERE
Cayman Airways ( & 800/422-9626 in the U.S. or 345/949-8200;
www.caymanairways.com) offers sev en flights a w eek to and fr om
Cayman B rac on Boeing 737s, which carr y 122 passengers. The
flights leave from Miami and make a short stop on Grand Cayman.
The cost of a r ound-trip ticket ranges fr om US$132 to US$157
per person. Note in advance that the larger planes, such as the 737s,
with 122 seats, that fly this r oute allow twice the luggage allotment
per passenger, without payment of the additional supplements of the
18-seaters, so if you have a lot of luggage, it's wise to book a flight on
the larger plane.
GETTING AROUND
You have a choice of a taxi, bike, r ental vehicle, or y our trusty feet.
Renting a car is easiest, especially if you don't like getting stuck in the
hot sun.
CAR RENTALS Car rental agencies will meet your incoming flight
if y ou make r eservations in adv ance. You won 't find many r ental
places here, so reserve as far in adv ance as possible during the winter
season.
B & S M otor Ventures, 422 Channel Rd., S outh Side ( & 345/
948-1646; www.bandsmv.com), is run by the helpful Steve and Nola
Bodden, who will supply y ou with plenty of insider information
about Cayman B rac. Cars and jeeps cost US$40 per day . The best
deal is their weekly rate, beginning at US$240 for 6 to 7 days. SUVs
can be r ented for US$45 per day . They also r ent bikes and scooters
(see below).
Brac Rent-a-Car, Tibbetts Square ( & 345/948-1515; www.brac
rentals.com), rents Toyota Corollas for US$38 per day. Four D's Car
Rental, Kidco B uilding, South Side ( & 345/948-1599 ), offers car
rentals for US$35 a day and up, and vans for US$45 a day. If you rent
for 6 days, the seventh day is free.
TAXIS Service is slow and not very organized, but it is available. Be
prepared, however, to wait. Taxis do not always meet incoming planes
unless arrangements ar e made in adv ance. Most taxi companies will
