Finds A ntica Gelateria
After spending several sunny hours on Seven Mile Beach or
exploring Grand Cayman's reefs, who doesn't want ice cream?
Better yet, how about a near-authentic Italian gelato? Antica
Gelateria, in the Marquee Shopping Center, Harquail Bypass
near West Bay Road ( & 345/946-1400 ), near the previously
recommended Cimboco Caribbean Cafe, has the perfect
scoop to cool the effects of the noontime sun. Stop here after
dinner and you'll experience one of the more unexpected
nightlife spots on Grand Cayman (p. 153).

Hard Rock Cafe Cayman Islands AMERICAN In terms of the
dollar amount of business it generates, this r estaurant blo ws ev ery
other eatery in G eorge Town way out of the water . Most of the r es-
taurant's business is conducted at lunchtime, when long lines of
hungry cruise ship passengers are handled efficiently, and vast quanti-
ties of party-colored drinks, commemorative T-shirts, and American-
derived comfor t food ar e sold at speeds and quantities that would
make any restaurant deeply envious. On the street level, you'll find a
faux-Victorian bar, a T-shirt boutique, and a waiting ar ea for diners.
The dining room lies at the top of a wide stair case on the building 's
second floor. You'll spot framed photographs of Mick Jagger and Bob
Marley, outfits worn b y Madonna and Buddy Holly, and more. Sus-
pended from the ceiling, just abo ve the stairwell that leads up to the
dining room, is part of a 1959 pink Cadillac.
The most popular drink is the H urricane, made from three kinds
of r um and thr ee kinds of fr uit juice. M enu items include burgers,
Reuben sandwiches, meal-siz e salads, steaks, pastas, P ig Sandwiches
(barbecued pork with french fries), fish and chips, and a par ticularly
comforting version of meatloaf. Evenings here, after the departure of
the cruise ships, are much less crowded than lunchtime.

Harry's Caribbean Bar & Grill CARIBBEAN This little hole-
in-the-wall r estaurant giv es off a Caribbean home-style vibe. The
pink-and-blue walls ar e cliché, but who car es? The distinctly local
