Chicken! Chick en! Kids AMERICAN This v enue completely
lacks glamour, but within its cheer ful and unpretentious premises (it
looks like the interior of a brightly painted C reole cottage), y ou can
feed a family for less money than at vir tually any other restaurant on
the island. The specialty, and the only available main course, is tender,
richly seasoned, perfectly cooked chicken. As many as 32 chickens at
a time r otate enticingly in the glar e of the island 's biggest and most
theatrical r otisserie, pr ominently positioned near the r estaurant's
entrance. Each chicken is flav ored with herbs and a touch of garlic.
After placing your order at the stand-up counter, you can opt to dine
in the restaurant, or you can haul your chicken away for consumption
somewhere else. The chicken (br east, thigh, or whole r oasted birds,
depending on y our or der) is accompanied b y cornbr ead and y our
choice of coleslaw, rice, or beans.

Cimboco Caribbean Cafe INTERNATIONAL Whimsical and
tongue-in-cheek, this charming spot occupies a modern building very
close to Grand Cayman's only movie theater. The venue is deceptively
simple: At first glance, y ou might imagine y ou're in a cafe that just
serves coffee and drinks, but a quick peek at the menu r eveals a
sophisticated medley of pizzas, salads, Caribbean-style r oti (pancake-
type bread with various fillings), and a full bar ser ving the fiesta-col-
ored drinks y ou might expect at a br eezy beachside joint. The
caramelized scallops served with mango-flavored salsa are an excellent
starter. Caesar salads can be garnished with grilled chicken or grilled
shrimp. Pizzas can be livened up with all sorts of toppings, including
slices of jer k chicken and lamb sausage. O ther dishes include pastas
(such as a three-cheese chicken fettuccine) and an oft-changing array
of daily specials and soups. Canada-born Tom and M eg Lasley ar e
your charming and har dworking hosts, whose culinar y philosophy
directs them to create all their food “from scratch” using only the fin-
est and healthiest ingredients.
In the Marquee Shopping Center, near the corner of the Harquail Bypass and West
Bay Rd. & 345/947-2782. www.cimboco.com. Reser vations recommended for
parties of 6 or more. Pizzas, burgers, and platters CI$8-CI$13. AE, MC, V. Sat-Thurs
