Edoardo's IT ALIAN This S icilian-owned trattoria-cum-tav ern
draws a lo yal patr onage of full-time G rand Cayman r esidents who
make Friday and S aturday dinner their culinar y respite from home-
cooked meals. The r estaurant is located in a less-than-glamor ous
shopping center on the landlocked side ofWest Bay Road, completely
lacking a view. Ironically, it is also recommended by the concierges of
nearby upscale hotels. F ood is ser ved in gener ous portions in a no-
nonsense, dar k-paneled setting that might hav e been impor ted
directly from a bar and grill in the suburbs of D etroit or Pittsburgh.
However, considering that many of the clients ar en't par ticularly
interested in a r estaurant theme of “Caribbean r omance” (they 're
probably sick of that r estaurant theme anyway), no one seems to
care.
Begin your meal with zesty grilled shrimp and calamari in a garlic-
and-lemon-flavored sauce, or barbecued Cajun prawns. The ciop-
pino, or shellfish stew, is fabulous. Pastas come in dozens of different
varieties; a favorite is tossed in a basil sauce with red potatoes. Mussels
are piled high with y our choice of four sauces—white wine with
garlic, spicy marinara, saffr on-flavored cr eam, or r ed-wine sauce—
and served as either a starter or main course. The best fish and meats
are a savory snapper livornese, made with capers and black olives; veal
Edoardo (scaloppine topped with P arma ham and fontina cheese);
and tenderloin of beef wrapped in bacon and served with Cambazola
cheese and r ed-wine demi-glacé. I f y ou're in the mood for pizza,
choose from nine types, or build your own from 15 toppings, includ-
ing blackened chicken and shrimp.

Full of Beans CAFE/COFFEEHOUSE/LIGHT FARE Don't you
love the name? E ven though it 's a mer e strip-mall cafe, the joint is
warmly decorated with old wooden tables and floors, modern I talian
chairs, mirror mosaics, and even a fake brick wall to add a mor e old-
fashioned ambience. At this local favorite, you can begin with Belgian
waffles in the morning and homemade soups or the lobster medal-
lions later in the day.
Each day a special is posted for lunch, perhaps baked chicken with
basmati rice and fresh vegetables. Among the most tempting platters
are a cranberr y brie salad with toasted nuts or a sesame-encr
