Adated from Soil Classification Working Group, 1991.
For each soil form there is a matrix table for family identiÝcation. The structure of the family
tables is different from those of the series tables of the 1977 system. (Compare Tables 16.4 and
16.5 for the Glenrosa form.) The new family tables allow a very simple and easy stepwise Ñkeying
outÒ of families until the right one is found. New names were created for all of the families.
None of the former series names was retained.
