formed. By the transport accumulation and intensive fertilization, the Cumuli-Orthic and Fimi-
Orthic anthrosols were formed, and by the wet cultivation, the Stagnic Anthrosols were formed
(Gong, 1994). The spatial relationship between Anthrosols and other soil orders is given in Figure
10.14. By the anthropogenic activity, various Anthrosols have been formed, although the original
soils are quite different.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Chinese Soil Taxonomic classiÝcation is a key project in the soil science Ýeld of China, which
is continuously supported by both the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Chinese
Academy of Sciences for almost 15 years. More than 100 soil scientists from 35 institutes and
universities are involved. Although it is organized by the Institute of Soil Science (the Chinese
Academy of Sciences), it is a joint achievement belonging to all the soil scientists in China, as
well as many international colleagues.
We would like to express our thanks to both the National Natural Science Foundation of
China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences for their Ýnancial support, and we should remember
nationally famous soil scientists Li Qingkui, Li Lianjie, Sun Honglie, Zhao Qiguo, and Tang
Yaoxian for their guidance and concern for the project. We extend our sincere thanks to inter-
national colleagues R.W. Arnold, H. Eswaran, J.M. Kimble, R. Ahrens (USDA), L.P. Wilding
(Texas A&M University), and staff from ISRIC and WRB for their valuable assistance.
