On Coppergate, the Jorvik Viking Centre (see below) offers up a reconstruction
of the Viking city that once stood on the site; its nearby sister attraction, Dig!, gives
you the chance to plunder excavation pits for clues as to how people lived in Roman,
Victorian, medieval, and Victorian times, accompanied by an archeologist. There are
further archeological treasures, plus rare animals, birds, and fossils, at the Yorkshire
Museum
