Castle House This fine Georgian hotel occupies an ideal location in central
Hereford. Each room features a unique style, but all with a classical English theme,
elegant furniture, and a raft of extras and amenities. The bowl of fruit and decanter
of sherry is a thoughtful touch. Rates include a gut-busting English breakfast, and
there's a fabulous afternoon tea for £10.

The Catherine of Aragon Suite Always wanted to spend the night in a
romantic 500-year-old house, but crave five-star luxury at the same time? This
enchanting timber-framed B&B seamlessly blends the two, set in the oldest residen-
tial property in the heart of Shrewsbury (dating from the 1490s). The only catch
is that for now, at least, there's literally just one suite, set in its own lavishly decorated
wing of the house with living room, bathroom, and wood-paneled bedroom with
two double beds. The breakfast is outstanding and Tony and Mary Walters are
superb hosts.

De Grey's Townhouse Ludlow is blessed with an abundance of attractive
accommodation options, but it's hard to beat this “tea shop with rooms” for atmo-
