The Old Sail Loft SEAFOOD This 16th-century smugglers' haunt has been
transformed into a cozy restaurant, with original oak beams and maritime relics add-
ing atmosphere to the interior. The extensive menu features a popular Cornish sea-
food chowder as a starter, with main courses including salmon filet in a beer batter
served with chunky chips, and John Dory on a garlic and chive mash. A steak and
game suet pudding with onion gravy would keep the carnivores happy.

Squid Ink Restaurant SEAFOOD Just off the quay-side in East Looe, this
chef-owned restaurant has a contemporary feel with an unfussy interior and a menu
that features fresh local fish cooked with Asian and Mediterranean flavors. Dishes
vary depending on what has been caught that day but might include pan-fried gur-
nard filet with pumpkin purée, or catch of the day with mussels cooked in paper with
white-wine and saffron. They also feature a meat and a vegetarian dish each day.

Trawlers on the Quay SEAFOOD This award-winning seafood restaurant
comes under the Barclay House umbrella and offers consistently high-quality food.
The focus is on imaginatively cooked seafood with fusion flavors, with the menu
changing regularly. Chargrilled cuttlefish with wasabi dressing is a typical starter, with
pan-fried brill or sea bass served with a green peppercorn sauce for a main course.
Meat lovers and vegetarians are also catered for, and the restaurant serves cream teas
in the afternoons.

LOSTWITHIEL
Trewithen BRITISH In the heart of historic Lostwithiel, close to the Duchy
Palace, is this lovely little restaurant set in an 18th-century building. The cuisine is
modern British, and the style of dining is relaxed. Dishes include sirloin steak sand-
wiches, chicken-and-mushroom pie, as well as homemade soups and salads. Indul-
gent desserts include warm treacle tart and a flourless chocolate cake. Scrambled egg
with smoked salmon is one of several options for brunch. Dine in the courtyard gar-
den on fine days.

PELYNT
Jubilee Inn BRITISH Built in the 16th century, this inn takes its name from
Queen Victoria's jubilee celebration, when it underwent restoration. In winter there's
a real fire in the bar and it's a popular spot for Sunday roasts and traditional pub food
like local sausages with mash and gravy, fish and chips, and steaks. Vegetarians have
several dishes to choose from as well. Freshly made sandwiches and jacket potatoes
are available at lunchtime. Rooms are available, too.
