Where to Eat

convenient for the center of town and offers a range of dining options under the same

brasserie ( &   0117/943-1200 ) offers cheaper fare in the form of burgers, goat's
cheese tart, and mussels. For snacks and take-out there's the Delicatessen

MODERATE
Olive Shed SPANISH/MODERN ENGLISH This restaurant, with a river-
side location in the heart of the city, uses fair-trade and organic produce for most food
and drink items, including, unusually, all its wine. Menus are seasonal and change
weekly, but expect vibrant combinations: rack of Somerset lamb with beetroot, water-
cress, and pumpkin-seed cake, or beetroot and chickpea fritters with peach and
orange salsa. The tapas menu is just as inspiring, with feta-stuffed mini peppers
complimenting classics such as anchovies, Spanish tortilla, and squid.

Banksy's Bristol
Who is Banksy? Officially, it's a secret,
although the now world-famous graffiti
artist is certainly a Bristol native. You
can see plenty of his iconic work
around the city: His Frogmore Street
artwork (a figure hanging from an open
window) adorns the side of a sexual
health clinic (get the best views from
the small bridge on Park Street), while
Mild Mild West (riot police versus a
teddy bear) is located on Stokes Croft,
next to the Canteen Bristol. Banksy also
stenciled the Grim Reaper on the side
of the Thekla (p. 352), a boat moored
in the harbor.
Banksy sometimes holds exhibitions
at the Bristol City Museum & Art Gal-
lery, Queen's Road ( &   0117/922-3571 ;
www.bristol.gov.uk/museums). See also
