Town Hall Hotel
There were sharp intakes of breath when this grand hotel
opened in 2010 on an ordinary Bethnal Green side-street. An imposing design hotel,
with one of the hippest young chefs doing the food, this far east? The gamble has paid
off, and London's East End finally has the luxury accommodation it needed. The
former Bethnal Green Town Hall has been converted into a palace of design and
taste. Rooms are somber and clean-lined with beautiful mid-century design pieces,
the Viajante restaurant is the hottest ticket in town, and the bar has some of the
friendliest and most creative staff this side of Manhattan. The smart pool and spa are
a rare treat for East London, too.
