Royal Horseguards Hotel We've awoken to the sound of the Queen's
Household cavalry trotting past, looked out of our window to see the Thames and
the London Eye, and thought to ourselves, “Is this the best located hotel in Lon-
don?” It's certainly hard to beat. Set in the grandeur of the one-time National
Liberal Club, with sweeping views all along the Thames, the Royal Horseguards is
fairytale London. The rooms are clean and masculine, the restaurant—a converted
library—harks back to the hotel's illustrious past and the whole thing adds up to a
very special London experience.

Mint Hotel Next to Tate Britain and Parliament, this purpose-built inn formerly
known as the City Inn Westminster has a vast array of rooms at the heart of tourist
London. The best units are the 67 City Club rooms or the 16 suites, but all are com-
fortable, with a fresh, light, and contemporary design. Business clients predominate
during the week, but on weekends rates are often slashed to bargain prices. Ask when
booking, and try for a guest room opening onto the Thames or Parliament.

feature an abundance of mahogany, antiques, fresh flowers, and rich fabrics. Read,

with Egyptian-cotton linens.

The Goring This place is the very best of London's family-run hotels. In
truth it has everything going for it; a location in the heart of royal London, close
to Buckingham Palace, the royal parks, and Westminster Abbey, a staff that knows
its stuff, and an air of regal splendor. Guest rooms offer all the comforts, including
