Hart House Hotel Hart House is a long-standing favorite of Frommer's
readers. In the heart of the West End, this well-preserved Georgian mansion lies
within walking distance of West End shopping and dining. The rooms—furnished in
a combination of styles, ranging from antique to modern—are spick-and-span, each
one with its own character. Favorites include no. 7, a triple with a big bathroom and
shower. Or ask for no. 11 if you'd like a brightly lit aerie. Hart House has long been
known as a good, safe place for traveling families, with many triple rooms and special
interconnecting family units.

The Sumner It's no wonder this Georgian townhouse hotel is so popular—
boutique hotels on quiet streets just minutes from Hyde Park and Oxford Street are
as rare as hen's teeth. It retains much of its original architectural allure: The standard
rooms are midsize and attractively furnished, but you can also choose deluxe rooms
with artwork and better furnishings. All the guest rooms are designer-decorated and
luxuriously appointed, and there is also an elegant sitting room with a working fire-
place and timber flooring.

Lincoln House Hotel The rooms may be small, but Lincoln House makes up
for it with bags of character and a central location. Built in the late 18th century,
during the reign of King George III, this refurbished and tastefully decorated hotel is
a converted townhouse with a traditional charm—and it's just a 5-minute walk to
Marble Arch Tube and Hyde Park. Midsize bedrooms are completely modernized but
decorated in a traditional fashion. You have a choice of enjoying an English breakfast
downstairs or a continental breakfast served in your room.

Wigmore Court Hotel A convenient family hotel, this inn lies near the street
made famous as the fictional address of Sherlock Holmes—Baker Street. It's also
close to Marble Arch, Oxford Street, and Madame Tussaud's. A somber Georgian
structure, it has been converted into a fine B&B suitable only for serious stair climb-
ers, as there is no elevator. There's traffic noise outside, so request a room at the rear.
Bedrooms, many quite spacious, are comfortably furnished. Most units contain
double or twin beds, plus a small bathroom.
