such, some of these 'other ' types were captured in the 'other ' category. Of
the total number of responses, 138 (80.2%) fitted into a traditional FLC
stage, but the remaining 34 responses (19.8%) did not fit into any stage of
the traditional FLC model.
These data were then disaggregated according to each region from which
the tourist had visited, to examine whether there was any difference in the
FLC versus non-FLC ratio based on regions (Table 11.2).
Based on disaggregation by region, Bendigo had the highest proportion of
respondents, at 28.1%, who did not fit into the traditional FLC. The second
highest proportion of non-FLC respondents in the Yarra Valley, with 18.5%,
followed by Geelong (15.8%) and then Ballarat (11.6%). A chi-square test
revealed no overall difference at the 95% confidence level, and z -tests at the
95% confidence level revealed no significant difference between the regions.
Respondents were asked whether they were staying with friends and
relatives, staying in commercial accommodation, or were day trippers. The
purpose of this question was to ascertain whether the ratio of FLC versus
non-FLC respondents was different based on these accommodation types
