Creating your first Data Object using BAM
Architect
Data Objects are created in the BAM Architect web application. Below are the
steps to define a Data Object:
1.
In the BAM Architect web application, click on
Data Objects
, or any sub-
folders in the
Folders
pane.
2.
Click on
Create Data Object
.
3.
Enter the following details:
•
Name for new Data Object:
Enter a name, which can contain strings,
numbers, or symbols such as — (dash) and
_
(underscore). However,
no single or double quotation marks are allowed here.
•
Location for new Data Object:
Click on
Browse
to select the subfolder
for the location.
•
Tip text:
Enter a tip text. This is optional.
•
Description:
Enter a description. This is optional.
•
External Data Object:
Keep the checkbox unselected.
4.
Click on
Add a field
to define data fields for a Data Object.
5.
Click on
Create Data Object
to save the Data Object.
A sample Data Object called
Order
is used throughout this topic. Now you
need to create the
Order
Data Object. The layout is shown in the following
screenshot. If you do not want to create this Data Object on your own, you may
choose to import the Data Object definition and sample contents using
ICom-
mand
, which will be discussed in the
Using ICommand to import Data Objects
section.
