Chapter 4. Designing BAM Reports
A BAM report/dashboard is a graphical user interface that can be used to display
business activity information, analytics, and alerts. In the previous chapters, you
have learned how to create Data Objects and move business data to them, which
are the pre-requisites for building BAM reports that meet your needs. In this
chapter, you will build a report, using various View types, to monitor order pro-
cessing information and some KPIs in real time. You will start with a report that
contains a single View, and then extend your report to include multiple Views.
Finally, you will enable alerts, so that a notification e-mail will be sent if certain
conditions are met.
As it is impractical to cover every report design topic in one chapter, we will focus
on the key topics only, and you can use this chapter as a guideline for your future
report design practices.
Designing a report that contains a
single View
It is recommended to build a report using an incremental method, which is to start
with a single View, and later extend it to include more View types.
Report design normally includes the following steps:
1.
Specifying Data Objects and fields.
2.
Performing data manipulation tasks.
3.
Editing view properties.
In this section, you will learn how to build a single view report using a List View
type, to track order processing information.
