Bicycle
Regional bicycle touring is very popular. Flat topography, ocean breezes on the Overseas
Highway and increasing bicycle infrastructure in Miami and Miami Beach make for great it-
ineraries. Just be wary of your surroundings, especially if you go cycling near the north of
Downtown. A few blocks north of that area it is especially tense. You may want to target
winter to spring; summer is unbearably hot and humid for long-distance cycling.
Renting a bicycle is easy in South Florida. Try the Everglades International Hostel if you
want to cycle in the Glades. In Key West there's a plethora of options located on the main
drags of Truman Ave and Simonton St; bicycle is probably the easiest way to get around
flat Key West. Don't forget that the DecoBike bike-share program now makes cycling in
Miami Beach especially easy.
