In-Depth Information
BRAZILIAN MIAMI
Miami's Brazilians are mainly found in Northern Miami Beach: working, partying, eating
and blending into the Miami milieu. Well, those Brazilians who live in Greater Miami prop-
er. There is a noticeably large population of temporary Brazilians in the city, including
shoppers who come here to buy electronics and clothes that lack Brazil's import duties,
and a glut of designers, DJs, musicians, fashionistas, models and their respective entour-

COLOMBIAN MIAMI
You'll find many Colombians with their South American brethren in Northern Miami

downtown and in the city's vast suburbs. Colombian politics are difficult to pigeonhole, as

La Moon Late night Colombian eats attract the Colombian community.

Havana. It is the Nicaraguans who are leading the way, currently, to more settlement from
Central America.

fact there is still a settlement pattern here of colonizers and Native Americans; the Semin-
ole and Miccosukee tribes constitute a major part of the 'Glades' population. Their neigh-
bors in Homestead and Everglades City are largely descended from those who came here
in the 19th century, after the West was won, when Florida became one of the last places
