Islamorada
Islamorada (eye-luh-murr- ah -da) is also known as 'The Village of Islands.' Doesn't that
sound pretty? Well, it really is. This little string of pearls (well, keys) - Plantation, Upper
and Lower Matecumbe, Shell and Lignumvitae (lignum- vite -ee) - shimmers as one of the
prettiest stretches of the islands. This is where the scrubby mangrove is replaced by un-
broken horizons of ocean and sky, one perfect shade of blue mirroring the other. Islamor-
ada stretches across some 20 miles, from MM 90 to MM 74.
1 Sights & Activities
o Anne's Beach
BEACH
(MM 73.5 oceanside)
Anne's is one of the best beaches in these parts. The small ribbon of sand opens upon a
sky-bright stretch of tidal flats and a green tunnel of hammock and wetland. Nearby mud-
flats are a joy to get stuck in, and will be much loved by the kids.
